PRI 2010: Magnacharger Superchargers For The 5.0L “Coyote” engine

The highly anticipated 5.0L “Coyote” engine found in the new 2011 Mustang GT, producing 412 horsepower and 390 ft-lbs of torque from the factory with it’s cross-bolted main bearing aluminum block and 32-valve DOHC alloy heads is quickly proving that it was made for boost. And that certainly tickles the fancy of Blue Oval enthusiasts everywhere.

Magnacharger, a well known name in the Mustang performance arena, has available a complete supercharger kit for the 2011 Mustang that was debuted at the SEMA Show and is proudly on display here at PRI. Magnacharger started from a clean slate with this new unit, with a four-lobe high-helix design that is highly efficient with quiet operation. Magncharger is the largest distributor of Eaton products in the country, and some of that technology has found it’s way into this new supercharger.

Offered in two models – the MP1900 or MP2300 – these feature Magnuson’s high flow case and a unique bypass valve that circumvents the supercharger under normal driving conditions. The unit is mounted atop the 5.0L powerplant with a Magnuson equal length runner manifold that houses a water-to-air intercooler. Included in the kit is a set of fuel injectors and all the necessary components for installation. Initial testing on this new unit has recorded dyno readouts of 485 wheel horsepower.
