PRI 2010: Dart’s New Short Blocks and Race Parts

Check out Dart’s SHP line as well as hardcore race part offerings below!

The SHP line started with their small block Chevy iron engine block that offers a lot of their high-end race options in a budget block. With the overwhelming popularity that steamed from the Chevy version, Dart launched a Ford short and and tall deck version of the SHP. The Ford SHP block also uses a lot of the premium features found in their high end blocks.

Dart also offers these blocks in short block form. The budget assemblies found through cast components can all be upgraded to forged as well. The small block Chevy SHP short blocks are offered in 372 and 400ci, while the Fords are offered in 347 and 363ci on a 8.200 (302 base) block and they have recently released their 9.500 deck, 427ci Ford short block.  The 427 though comes with fully forged internals standard.

Then by popular demand, Dart has introduced a new Gen 7 cast iron big block and short block assembly.  The 8.1 is popular in marine and truck applications for its large torque offerings.  This metric 8.1 style block also can be paired together with Dart’s new cast iron cylinder heads with improved, high flowing port designs and efficient combustion chambers.  The Gen 7 block can be bored to a 4.625-inch diameter for up to 535ci with full water and 636ci with siamesed bores.

All of these short blocks are built in house with the same staff that assembles their Pro Stock engines. So even though these prices might be cheap, the assembly is treated same as all their engines. Dart also offers their short blocks with a host of top end kits that can include intake manifold, heads that are iron or aluminum in a variety of intake port sizes, valve covers, spark plugs, head bolts and associated gaskets.
