The 2014 North American International Auto Show will be the public’s first chance to see the all-new 2015 Ford Mustang in person, and we were happy to see that the 2015 Mustang was in fact center stage of the massive Ford display. This includes a gorgeous Triple Yellow model that marks the return of banana-colored Mustangs for the first time in a decade.
Of course the Triple Yellow Mustang wasn’t alone at the Ford display, as there are two other 2015 models, a convertible in the new Guard (gray)color and a sinister looking black GT coupe, on hand to keep the brightly-colored Mustang company. Pictures just don’t do the 2015 Mustang any justice, and it’s absolutely true that to appreciate the car fully, you need to see it first hand. As good as this car looks in pictures, it looks even better in person. It’s bold and aggressive, but not overly-big, and you can’t help but run your fingers along the fluid-like lines and broad shoulders of this new Mustang.
To show just how far the Mustang has come, Ford also brought along the original Mustang 1 Concept, albeit a little worse for wear, as well as one of the first 1965 production Mustangs. The added historical aspect is rather cool, but we spent a lot of time looking at were the engine cutaways, especially the new 2.3 liter EcoBoost with the twin-scroll turbo setup. For such a small engine it packs a lot of punch, though Ford is still sticking to its “more than 300 horsepower” line of answers to any sort of question regarding output.
We’d be remiss though if we didn’t mention that Ford also brought along several of its Fiesta and Focus ST models, as well as plenty of the new 2015 F-150s that broke cover yesterday. Ford’s display is equal parts green cars as well, with the C-Max, C-Max Energi, and Fusion Hybrid also taking a prominent place.
But nobody is coming to Detroit to see a few hybrids. The all new Mustang? That’s worth the trip no matter how far you’ve got to go.
