Unfortunately, our Babe Of The Month feature department had fallen stagnant and was in need of some serious help. As our crew kicked around ideas on how to revive this beloved department, the name Mitzi Valenzuela was brought up. Mitzi runs her own photography studio Mitzi & Co. Photography, and is well known for her pinup shoots and calendars. “Mitzi won’t work for our rates,” said somebody. “Let’s ask her anyway,” offered another. As luck would have it, we reached out to Mitzi, and she said yes. This is the first of what we hope are many of Mitzi’s pinup photo shoots.

About Mitzi

Greetings fellow rod enthusiasts! I am a Southern California gal who loves shooting classic cars with pinup girls. You may have seen some of my work featured in a number of publications, and I also produce a pinup calendar every year that is sold worldwide. I love traveling to different car shows around the world, and have been fortunate to visit places like Japan and Australia.

August 2017 Babe of the Month: Miss Marisol with Frank Ibarra’s 1965 Ford F100.

I am very excited for this amazing opportunity to produce the Babe of the Month column on Rod Authority, and so are my pinup girls. I work with so many amazing gals and I can’t wait to share some of their stories. I will be introducing new pinups every month, along with talking to some very influential woman in our industry. I look forward to sharing some fun stories along with more of my photography and a closer look behind the scenes. In the meantime, please enjoy our first babe of the month Miss Marisol.

Miss Marisol

Miss Marisol is a sweet and bubbly redhead from Riverside, California, who loves to cook, dance, and read a good science-fiction book. When she’s not spending time as a caregiver or super-mom, she enjoys pinup modeling for different clothing companies as well as classic car magazines.

Her first modeling gig was back in 2015, for Dolly Dames Clothing. Shortly after, her photos got published in Poisonous Pinups Magazine. More recently, she has been on the cover of Pinup Kulture Magazine for their Valentine’s Special issue, as well as featured in Classic and Kustom Bombs magazine, and Car Kulture Deluxe. She loves being able to dress up in all the different pinup fashions from vintage to reproduction.

In her most recent shoot for Rod Authority, Marisol is featured here with Frank Ibarra’s ’65 F100. The body and paint is by Edog Kustoms, the upholstery is by Blind Stitch Upholstery, and Frank is associated with the car club, Los Boulevardos. We headed out to Cascade Park in Monterey, for an early morning shoot. After we visually captured the essence of Kustom, Marisol took the time to answer a few questions about all the things she loves.

Favorite part about pinup modeling: I love dressing up and putting outfits together. It’s important, even after being a mother, to make time for yourself and do things that make u feel sexy and beautiful and not lose touch with yourself. I also love that it empowers other women to do the same.

Favorite clothing company: I love all the vintage repro companies out there, but when I’m shopping, I don’t typically look for a specific brand. It’s just about what makes you look and feel good.

What do you love most about the pinup style: I love the style is classic, feminine, sexy, and timeless.

What was your shoot like with the ’65: It was very cool. I love the trucks! The location was beautiful, and Mitzi is great to work with. In a way its very surreal … She’s one of the photographers I wished and hoped to work with when I first started modeling. It’s truly awesome for it to become a reality.

Describe yourself in three words: Friendly, Outgoing, Caring

Favorite Vacation spot: My favorite vacation spot right now is the mountains in Utah, because I’m learning to ski. I love learning new things. I’m looking forward to going again this year.

Dream vacation: My dream vacation would be Mexico DF or somewhere in South America, where I could go see and explore ancient Mayan or Aztec ruins and beaches.

Favorite classic car: I love so many it’s hard to pick just one.. I love trucks, but I also love Mercs and even the Chevy Impala. Classics are all so beautiful…. But for some reason I’ve always wanted a Chevy El Camino.

Favorite food: chili cheese fries, tacos, and pasta.

What do you like to cook: My mom taught me how to cook traditional Mexican dishes, but I’ve also taught myself other dishes. My favorites are enchiladas y Caldo de Albondigas. I also love Italian. Another one of my specialties I would say is Chicken Primavera and a shrimp pasta I make that similar to Fettuccine Alfredo. I’m constantly looking for new recipes to make. I love trying out new stuff.

Favorite restaurant: Anywhere with happy hour!

Favorite drink: Beer, whiskey, or wine

Favorite dive bar: Spikes

Favorite dance style: Haha, I actually love dancing Cumbias. I would say that’s one of my favorite genres to dance. Also, I’m learning how to jive, and I’m so excited about that. I’ve also been looking into taking a burlesque class or pole fitness for a fun work out.

Favorite sports teams: I grew up an LA Dodger fan (baseball), Oakland Raiders (football) and Chivas de Guadalajara (soccer) fan
