RateMyRidez.com, an up and coming popular social media networking site for the car scene, has decided to show some extra love to a Mustang fan and enthusiast. Billy Abston, a lifelong fan of the Stang, was but a few short months ago the proud owner of a Gotta Have It Green 2013 BOSS 302. Abston early on in the launch of RateMyRidez.com stepped on the scene and signed up for a profile to showcase his sweet ride on the site. Abston began promoting his Stang on the site to win Ride of the Week. A contest where other members give you a rating of Hot or Not. Up against another Stang, Abston put up an epic battle and beat the other Stang out to win the honor of Ride of the Week. Feeling pumped and proud of his ride, a week later Abston took his baby for a spin.  Unfortunately this ride took a tragic turn. The Gotta Have It Green BOSS never made it home. Lost in an accident the car was totaled and no more. Abston not at fault for the accident,  was banged up and did suffer from a broken jaw in the accident however, no major life threatening injuries. Although his heart was broken and saddened over the loss of his beloved Stang he felt fortunate to be in good health overall and was now ready for the road to recovery.

AJ the founder of RateMyRidez.com soon became aware of the tragic accident and through the website notified the community of Abston’s accident and loss. AJ a believer that everything happens for a reason and people are brought together for a purpose, had been looking for a ride to sponsor. After talking with the Rate My Ridez team they decided Abston would be the first. The Rate My Ridez team notified Abston of their plans. Abston was beyond surprised and thrilled with happiness that he would see again in his driveway another Mustang.

AJ and Abston now teamed up to come up with a concept for the sponsored ride and arrived at the Franken-Stang. This creation was planned to be one of the sickest ever.  AJ the founder of Rate My Ridez wants his social media site to be well rounded for all of the car scene to take part in and enjoy. Wanting to make dreams come true for those that have a love of the ride, is the main reason he decided to get involved in sponsoring rides with a story and purpose.

The Fraken-Stang concept is a tribute to Absotn’s lost Gotta Have It Green BOSS, “The Beast”. The project was a complete build from scratch. Beginning with a 2014 GT Premium the plan was to put together a true custom 5.0, hence the name Franken-Stang. There is a little of everything in this ride with the purpose of creating a masterpiece.

Three phases to the project were planned. Currently the project is in phase one. This is the cosmetic phase of the ride. Although the engine in the car is not putting Cobra Jet power down yet, Cobra Jet graphics have been added to the flanks. Remember the word yet. A keyword for the future.  Wanting an aggressive look for this build, a Shelby front end conversion kit has been added as well as a Cervini Type IV ram air hood. Topping off the Phase one cosmetic stage are Cervini stalker window scoops,  GT 500 rear spoiler, a RTR rear decklid, GT 500-rear valance with Quad tips, Borla ATAK catback exhaust system,  Eibach Pro Handling pack (1.5” drop), down forced staggered wheels 20×8.5 and 20×10, wiht Nitto INVO 255/40/20 fronts and 315/35/20 rears. We’d say the look is right on track thus far. 

Given full freedom on the input and concept with the build at full throttle Abston, AJ and the Rate My Ridez team, are rushinginto the phase two stage of the project. Not quite ready to discuss phase two at this time the mods and plans have not been released.  Much more is planned for Franken-Stang before it will officially be ready to present to the scene.

There have been talks in the works to take this creation to the strip and throw down. This not being confirmed as of yet since no official time frame has been set to complete the project. This being the first sponsored ride of the new social media website they are taking their time and ensuring perfection. Occasional sneak peeks and photos of the ride are posted to the site with a small caption to keep interest going.  Members of the site and the Rate My Ridez team see Abston as part of the family and the outpouring of response to him since the accident has been amazing. Keep in mind a social media website that provides a forum for all rides and a car community that shows love and respect to each member has taken this Stang owner into their home.
