The Mustangs From Barrett-Jackson Orange County

Another day, another Barrett-Jackson auction with pristine cars raising big bucks. The Orange County Barrett-Jackson auction just ended with the presence of a few Mustangs bringing in some dollars. This is one auction where the price for cars go way above MSRP value.

One 1968 Rotisserie Shelby GT500 made a statement on the stage sporting the original Sunlit Gold paint job. This Shelby features matching numbers and the documentation includes the original sales invoice, build sheet found during the restoration, the vehicle verification with the complete Marti Auto Works report, title and registrations from previous owner as well as the dealer repair invoices. The Shelby GT500 fetched an impressive $137,500 from the auction. That’s the second most expensive ‘Stang at the O.C. this past weekend.

Another classic Mustang passed through the auction block, one that tops most ‘Stang enthusiast’s dream car lists and can easily reach six digits. That’s the Boss 429. This 1969 Boss 429 has been restored from the ground up and featured a dark red paint job with a black vinyl interior. Not only is it pretty but it also features power brakes, power steering and Magnum 500 chrome wheels. Let’s not forget that this gem only has 28,169 original miles on the odometer and has many magazine features under the belt. All of this combined made the final selling price an impressive $253k. That’s the highest amount on any non-charity car sold at the auction.

The Galpin Auto Sports (G.A.S.) guys are known for their crazy hand-built wide-body creations, and this custom 2010 wide-body Mustang Convertible is no exception. It may be recognizable to some as it was featured at the 2009 SEMA show along with Mustangs and Fast Fords Magazine August 2010 issue, Top 10 SEMA Rides for 2009, Mustangs and Fast Fords Magazine Top 10 Mustangs of 2010 and Mustangs and Fast Fords 2010 calendar.

It has a bright PPG two-tone paint job, Mono Leggera Pinzette aluminum Forgiato wheels wrapped with Pirelli tires, custom leather seats as well as a 900 watt JL audio system. Not only is the appearance impressive, but lift up the hood and you’ll see a Ford Racing supercharger system good for 550 horses. To back up the power, they installed top-of-the-line Wlwood brakes, Ford Racing suspension handling pack, McLeod clutch and flywheel, one-piece driveshaft and Hurst shifter. The selling price at $50,600 seems rather low for all of the work done, especially with only 6,080 miles on the odometer. Looks like more people at the Barrett-Jackson auction tend to be into the classic ‘Stangs this time around.
