The week of July 14th-18th, you’ll be able to divide Mustang enthusiasts into two groups; those who are at Mustang Week, and those who wish they were at Mustang Week. Those that aren’t at Mustang Week will probably stay away from social media outlets so they’ll feel better about not being there, but the pain will still be there. For those of us that will be there, we’ll be having a blast at the various events throughout the week.

Vaughn Gittin, Jr will be putting on a drifting display at Myrtle Beach Speedway Wednesday July 15th, as part of the festivities that day. Gittin will put his car-control prowess on display, and see how many sets of tires he can go through in one day.

Mustang Week gets kicked off Tuesday July 14th with the Meet and Greet at the Palace Theatre, and goes from 9:00AM to 2:00PM. The Meet and Greet is a chance to catch up with Mustang friends and family you haven’t seen in a while. It’s also a chance to see what everyone has done to their Mustang since last year. The BFGoodrich Autocross Driving School also takes place that day out at Myrtle Beach Speedway from 10:00AM to 1:00PM, and 2:00PM to 5:00PM.

Day 2, Wednesday the 15th the event goes to Myrtle Beach Speedway for the BFGoodrich Track Day. The gates open at 9:00AM, and the action starts at 10:00AM with the Gateway Classic Mustang Autocross. Both the Autocross and the Stifflers Speedway Fun Runs take place from 10:00AM to 5:00PM. After that, at 6:00PM is the SVTPerformance Burnout Contest. This is not your average, everyday burnout contest. Mustang owners really let it all hang out during the burnout contest, doing more than just burnouts. Competitors go back and forth on the speedway’s front stretch smoking the tires, and the crowd decides the winner via whoever gets the loudest applause. After the burnout contest, the speedway plays host to the Wheels of Destruction thrill show, featuring various stunt displays and racing action.

Mustang Week’s official Instagram Meet will take place Tuesday July 14th at the Big Beaver Bar at 6:00PM. Though it was a little wet last year, we’re hoping for clear skies for this year’s meet.

Day 3, Thursday the 16th starts with an informal show at the Myrtle Beach Mall, and Muscle Mustangs and Fast Fords Battle at the Beach Dyno Shootout. The Battle at the Beach will pit several Mustangs against each other for horsepower supremacy. The Battle at the Beach takes place from 9:00AM to 12:00PM. Then at 12:30PM to 2:30PM everyone meets at the adjoining Hooters for a cruise out to Darlington Drag Strip for the Mickey Thompson Darlington Drag Night, which starts at 4:00PM.

Day 4, Friday the 17th the action comes back to the Myrtle Beach Mall for the 11th Annual Late Model Restoration car show. Check-in starts at 8:30AM, judging starts at 11:00AM, and awards are at 3:00PM on Saturday the 18th. If you have already registered your car for the show, make sure you stay at the show until judging takes place.

Also taking place Wednesday at Myrtle Beach Speedway is the SVTPerformance.com burnout contest. This is a burnout contest like no other, and as you can see, some cars get out unscathed, but others aren’t so lucky. This was at least year’s burnout contest, where this SN95 became quite hot while trying to please the crowd.

Day 5, Saturday the 18th is at the Myrtle Beach Mall once again with possibly the largest Mustang and SVT show on the east coast. Also that morning, the Southeastern Fox bodies hold an exclusive Fox Mustang cruise to the show. Last year, there were 146 Fox Mustangs partaking in the cruise, and this year the club hopes for even more. The Saturday show itself goes from 10:00AM to 6:00PM, and signals the end of Mustang Week until next year.

The thing about Mustang Week is that even with all the planned events and venues, there are so many informal club and Instagram meets throughout the week. You can’t throw a rock all week without hitting a Mustang, and not that we would recommend doing that, but seeing so many Mustangs in one area, it’s the best week in any Mustang owners life.
