This past weekend the Pirelli World Challenge was in town for the third round of its 2013 racing seasons, and on hand were three teams fielding a total of five Mustangs, all vying for top spot in the GTS class. But this weekend didn’t quite go as planned. So what happened?
A mix of rain and sun combine for an interesting weekend at Road Atlanta during the PricewaterhouseCoopers 250, the most recent stop in the Grand-Am Continental Tires Sports Car Challenge series.

It was the inaugural race for the Grand Am series at the newly opened Circuit of the Americas. This technical track proved challenging for many racers. While there wasn’t a Mustang win this time, there was at least one in the top 10.

Billy Johnson and Jack Roush Jr., driving the #61 Roush Performance Mustang Boss 302R, captured their second win of the 2012 Grand-Am Continental Tire Sports Car Challenge season on June 9th at the Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course. It was Johnson’s first win at the 2.26-mile road course.

This weekend Justin Bell, driving the No. 50 eBay Motors Boss 302S Mustang, looked to take his third victory in as many races in the SCCA World Challenge series. Alas, he had to settle for second place…but in a way, that was good enough.
