We believe in the magic of the automobile

Tom Bobolts Publisher

Tom started working for Power Automedia in early 2008 at the young age of 20. Starting off as an intern spinning wrenches in the PowerTV garage, Tom cut his teeth helping us build the very project cars we feature. Since moving inside the office, most of his time is spent writing and shooting installs - but he still finds time to get out in the shop. Outside of work, Tom enjoys a variety of different motorsports from Street Bikes, Muscle Cars and just about anything that demands high amounts of horsepower.

Prestolite Performance, parent company of Mr. Gasket, Mallory, ACCEL, Lakewood, Hays and AnchorTrax, has launched what they are calling Operation Muscle. The plan is to take the Big Three’s automotive icons (Chevy Camaro, Dodge Challenger and last but definitely not least, the Ford Mustang), and develop performance parts for the owners to enjoy. The best part is you can follow along step-by-step as these cars are taken from showroom stocker, to performance kings.

Raised in California, Holman moved to North Carolina in 1956, when the Ford team was looking for a manager. Arguably, his timing could have been both the cause of his success as well as his fall.

Engine swaps have always been a part of the performance industry. The idea of someone making something that no one else has should get every car guy’s heart pumping. The problem is that engine swaps are as common as Hondas at a high school. Even when you do perform an engine swap into an older car, it generally doesn’t handle like a newer car would.

While Jeg Jr., Troy Coughlin’s brother, has a hankering for naturally aspirated 500 cubic inch Pro Stock cars, Troy has lately seemed to enjoy things of a different nature. Boost. In 2007, Troy came off a 2nd place finish in the NMCA Pro Street class and decided to jump into a twin-turbocharged Pro Mod GTO competing in the NHRA Pro Mod series. Seeing as he enjoyed the turbocharged powerplant so much, it was really only natural that he seek out some hairdryers for the wicked street ride you see here, a 2008 Saleen Mustang custom built by Granatelli Motorsports with GMS’s 2005-up Mustang turbocharger system.
